Norwegian star striker Erling Haaland is known as a formidable goalscorer on the field. However, his personal life away from the pitch is quite low-key and kept out of the limelight. He has been in a long-term relationship with 22-year-old model and influencer Isabel Haugseng Johansen.
Interestingly, the relationship began with a direct message (DM) sent by Isabel.
Although Isabel is now known as a model and social media influencer, she was once a footballer herself. She began playing as a forward for the women’s team of the Norwegian club Bryne FK at the age of just 13.
Both Haaland and Isabel grew up in the small Norwegian town of Bryne and played for the local club, Bryne FK. While they had known each other since childhood, their romantic relationship developed much later.
Haaland revealed that around 2021, when he moved to play for the German club Borussia Dortmund, Isabel was the one who first messaged him on social media.
Speaking on this, Haaland said, “She was the one who messaged me first. We used to play for the same club, Bryne. Actually, she was the one who liked me first, not the other way around.”
Despite Haaland’s estimated net worth of around £74 million at just 25 years of age, their personal life remains quite simple. They prefer spending time at home rather than engaging in lavish activities.
Describing his dream date night, Haaland said, “I do the cooking. It might sound a bit embarrassing to her, but Isabel loves playing video games. We play Minecraft together and build houses. And sometimes, when we go back to Bryne, we order kebabs.”
The couple welcomed their first child—a son—in December 2024. However, despite having around 945,000 Instagram followers, Isabel prefers to keep her family life private; consequently, they have not yet revealed their child’s name or photos. In an interview with Norway’s KK magazine, Isabel stated, “I want to keep my family safe, while also allowing people to know who I am. However, drawing the line between my private and public life remains the biggest challenge.”
Haaland and Isabel currently reside in England. Although they lead a quiet, simple life, they also enjoy some of the perks that come with the Manchester City star’s massive earnings.
Haaland’s weekly salary is reportedly around £500,000.
Recently, he purchased a luxurious 10-bedroom mansion in Cheshire, England, for £6.2 million. The sprawling estate features a lake, an outdoor swimming pool, a large garden, a coach house, and horse stables.
Additionally, Haaland has received permission to build a special four-car garage to house his supercar collection, which is valued at approximately £10 million. His collection includes a rare Bugatti Tourbillon worth around £4 million.
A source revealed that the house is equipped with everything a modern-day footballer could need. At the same time, it is secluded enough to allow Haaland to completely disconnect from the pressures of football once he returns home.
According to Haaland, Isabel’s own experience with football has strengthened their relationship. He said, “She has played football herself, so she understands my career, the pressures of the game, and the reality of it all very well. That is a wonderful thing for our relationship.”
