More than 60 percent of registered voters in the United States believe that initiating a war with Iran was a mistake. Furthermore, over seven out of ten voters feel that the Trump administration lacks a concrete strategy for concluding a conflict with Iran. These findings emerged from a new Fox News poll.
Seventy-one percent of the voters surveyed stated that the administration has no clear plan to end the conflict. Among those holding this view are 95 percent of Democrats, 83 percent of Independents, and 43 percent of Republicans.
Meanwhile, 60 percent of voters believe the decision to launch military action against Iran was wrong, while 37 percent support the decision. In a poll conducted last June, 58 percent of voters deemed the decision to go to war a mistake; thus, opposition to the move has increased slightly.
The number of voters who believe this conflict will make the United States less safe in the long run has also risen. While 39 percent of voters expressed this concern in April, the figure has now climbed to 47 percent. Conversely, 32 percent believe the war will make the US safer.
The poll places President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating at 39 percent, with 61 percent of voters expressing dissatisfaction with his performance. Notably, his approval rating regarding foreign policy has dropped to 37 percent—the lowest level recorded during his term.
This Fox News poll gathered opinions from 1,211 registered voters between September 11 and 14.
