Forty-six percent of US citizens have expressed support for the arrest of world leaders accused of genocide. A significant portion of survey participants believe that international law should be properly enforced in such cases.
According to the survey data, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tops the list of leaders whom respondents want to see arrested. Respondents voiced this opinion against the backdrop of international allegations and ongoing legal debates surrounding the Gaza war.
However, the survey was conducted by a UK-based organization and reflects the views of US voters.
The survey results emerged just as Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump are preparing to meet. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Iran would be a key topic of discussion during his meeting with Trump. He made these remarks on Monday, just minutes before departing for Washington D.C. from an Israeli Air Force base.
In a video message delivered in Hebrew alongside his wife, Sara Netanyahu, he said, “We must act with firm resolve and deep wisdom during these complex times. We will discuss every item on the agenda, with Iran at the very top. Naturally, our primary goal is to ensure security while simultaneously expanding the scope of peace around us.”
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet Trump at 11:00 AM local time on Tuesday. This marks the first meeting between the two leaders in over five months.
Last Wednesday, New York City Council member Zohran Mamdani stated that while the city lacks the legal authority to execute arrest warrants issued by the world’s top war crimes court, he is urging the federal government to enforce them.
