Iran will not retaliate if US aggression ceases

Iran will suspend military operations if the United States halts its attacks. A senior Iranian official conveyed this to the news agency Reuters. The US airstrikes, which had been ongoing for 13 days, were temporarily suspended on Friday night; since then, neither side has launched any new attacks.

The administration of US President Donald Trump stated that the pause in attacks was intended to create an opportunity for diplomatic efforts. However, US military officials have warned that pre-selected targets for the prolonged campaign are nearly exhausted, and the weapons stockpile is facing strain.

On the other hand, the Iranian official stated that Tehran does not view this pause as a permanent shift. In their view, it could be a tactical hiatus, and Iran’s trust in the United States remains limited.

Recent tensions between the two nations centering on the Strait of Hormuz have sparked fresh concerns regarding regional security and global energy supplies. However, the cessation of attacks is seen as opening up the possibility of a diplomatic solution.
