US President Donald Trump has threatened that if Iran attempts to assassinate him, thousands of missiles will be launched at the country.
Trump issued this threat in a post on his social media platform, “Truth Social.”
Donald Trump stated, “The Iranian government is making threats against the current US President—specifically, attempting to assassinate me. If Iran takes steps to carry out this threat, one thousand missiles have been readied and aimed at the country. Immediately following that, thousands more missiles would be launched.”
Trump added, “Necessary orders have already been issued. The US military is ready, willing, and able for a one-year term; this timeframe will be extended if necessary. US forces will completely obliterate and destroy all areas of Iran.”
Notably, prior to Trump’s threat, a CNN report revealed that Israel had shared intelligence with the US regarding a new Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump. Two sources familiar with the matter provided this information to CNN.
This information has added a new dimension to the tensions between the US and Iran, occurring amidst ongoing strain regarding ceasefire negotiations.
One source indicated that the warning was issued this week. Another source stated that the US had been receiving intelligence for several weeks regarding potential plots to assassinate Trump; however, the warning from Israel was distinct, as it related to a specific conspiracy.
However, some other US officials offered a different perspective. They suggest that Trump is currently weighing whether to intensify US military action against Iran, and Israel may have brought this information to light to influence that decision.

In 2020, top Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was killed in a drone strike ordered by Trump. The US government has long warned that Iran might attempt to assassinate Trump in retaliation for that killing.
Additionally, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a recent Israeli-US strike. His burial took place last Thursday. Hundreds of thousands of mourners gathered for the week-long official mourning and burial ceremonies for the slain leader.
During the mourning processions, slogans calling for Trump’s assassination were chanted, and long banners demanding the same were displayed. These events have heightened fears among many that Iran might attempt to assassinate Trump.

Speaking to reporters last Wednesday, Trump said, “They want to take out the US leader—meaning me. I am on any list [hit list]. Just this morning, I saw that my name is on every one of their lists. I have been somewhat lucky so far, but luck might not always be on my side.”
