A major fire has broken out in a commercial building in the Golders Green area of northwest London. At least 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines are currently working to extinguish the blaze. The Telegraph online edition reported this news.
According to the report, it is believed that the fire initially started in the rear section of the Jewish supermarket—named ‘Kosher Kingdom’—located on Golders Green Road.
The London Fire Brigade stated that they received their first emergency call at 6:47 AM on Wednesday. Subsequently, a total of 56 calls were received.
To bring the situation under control swiftly, units have been dispatched from multiple surrounding stations, including Finchley, Willesden, and West Hampstead. A 32-meter turntable ladder is also being utilized at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that, as of now, there have been no reports of any casualties.
The local fire department noted that the specific cause of the fire remains unknown. However, the blaze has spread to an adjacent three-story building, which houses shops on the ground floor and other functional spaces on the upper floors.
Due to heavy smoke, nearby residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed. Additionally, several sections of Golders Green Road—particularly the area adjacent to Beverly Gardens—have been temporarily closed off.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid the affected area.
