Despite a ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to carry out surprise attacks across Lebanon. Amidst this situation, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has stated that he is prepared to do the impossible to bring an end to the conflict with Israel. Al Jazeera Online reported this information in a recent dispatch.
In a statement, Joseph Aoun outlined the framework Lebanon has established for negotiations; this framework encompasses the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the implementation of a ceasefire, the deployment of the army along the border, the return of displaced persons, and the provision of economic assistance.
The Lebanese President further asserted: “In accordance with my position and responsibilities, and with the aim of ending the war against our people, it is my duty to make the impossible possible and to choose the path that entails the lowest cost.”
A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been in effect since April 17. However, despite this truce, Israeli forces continue to launch incessant attacks within the country. Last week, the ceasefire between the two nations was renewed and extended for an additional 45 days; yet, Israel continues to carry out attacks within the country even after this extension.
