Abbas Goudarzi, a spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s presidium, has stated that it is “entirely possible” for Iran to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and reconsider its nuclear policy.
Speaking to the Iranian news agency Fars, he remarked that withdrawing from the NPT and reviewing the country’s nuclear policy is a viable option.
According to him, taking such a step would serve to “put the United States and its followers in their place.”
This statement from the parliamentary leadership spokesperson comes amidst ongoing tensions with the United States regarding Iran’s nuclear program. His comments regarding a potential withdrawal from the NPT suggest a further escalation of these tensions.
