Trump urges Iran to wave the ‘white flag’ and surrender; ceasefire period expires
US President Donald Trump has called on Tehran to “wave the white flag” following the expiration of the 60-day ceasefire between Iran and the United States. At the same time, he stated that he has no specific timeframe for the next steps regarding Iran.
Tensions between the US and Iran escalated further after the scheduled ceasefire deadline passed on Monday. Trump remarked that Iran should surrender and wave the “white flag,” though he noted that he had not set a specific schedule for war or any subsequent actions.
Meanwhile, Iran has blamed the US for violating the ceasefire agreement. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that the 60-day period was intended for discussions on lifting sanctions and addressing Iran’s nuclear issue. He claimed that because the US violated the terms of the agreement, those discussions effectively never began.
As the ceasefire expired, tensions regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz also intensified. Iran announced that it had reached an understanding with Oman concerning shipping through the strait. Conversely, Trump issued a stern warning regarding Iran’s stance in the Strait of Hormuz.
These developments have created fresh uncertainty regarding the future of long-term peace talks and raised fears of a widening conflict in the Middle East.
