Sergio Gor, the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, held meetings with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on two consecutive days—Monday and Tuesday. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, confirmed the meetings during a press conference on Tuesday.
However, Jaiswal did not disclose specific details regarding the topics discussed. He merely stated that the “broad global strategic partnership between India and the US” was the subject of both meetings.
He further noted that progress is being made across various facets of this partnership. Both sides remain committed to strengthening cooperation in areas such as trade, friendly collaboration, energy security, and critical missile technology.
Following the meeting with Doval, Gor described the interaction as “productive” in a post on the social media platform X. Without providing specifics, he mentioned that the discussion focused on US-India strategic cooperation.
Gor wrote that a close partnership with India is vital for addressing global security challenges. He added that the US and India share many common goals and that their mutual engagement is steadily growing.
The meeting between Gor and Doval is considered significant. Gor’s role extends beyond the scope of a standard US ambassador to India; his mandate covers a vast region stretching from India to Kazakhstan.
