Former US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has revealed that the cancer in his father’s body has spread further. He shared this information during a recent interview with the BBC, as reported by the news agency AFP.

In May 2025—just four months after leaving the presidency—Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The cancer had also spread to his bones.

He subsequently began treatment, which included radiation therapy and hormone therapy. Last month, while announcing the upcoming release of his memoir, Biden had stated that his treatment was “going very well.”

However, in an interview aired Friday night on the BBC’s Newsnight program, his son Hunter Biden disclosed that despite the ongoing treatment, his father’s cancer has spread further.

“The cancer has spread further,” Hunter said. “It has spread to his bones and other parts of his body.”

He added, “It is very painful and is weakening him in many ways. But he still goes out and continues his work. He still loves this country deeply, and his faith in the nation remains unshaken.”

At one point during the interview, Hunter Biden became emotional while discussing his father’s health.

“It is truly very difficult, and it is painful to see my father in this condition,” he said.

There had long been questions regarding the health of Biden, who served as the oldest president in US history. Despite these concerns, he had decided to run for a second term in the 2024 presidential election.

He withdrew from the presidential race following a dismal performance in a debate against Donald Trump in June 2024 and amidst immense pressure from within the Democratic Party.

Donald Trump was subsequently elected president after defeating the candidate who replaced Biden—then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
