The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab League have condemned Houthi attacks in the southern Saudi region of Najran. Several civilians were injured in the attacks, according to Al Jazeera.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the attack as a “terrorist act that violates international and humanitarian law.” He stated that the security of Saudi Arabia is inextricably linked to the security of other GCC member states and pledged full support for Riyadh’s efforts to protect its borders and sovereignty.
Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Najran and on government force positions in Yemen’s Marib and Hadramaut regions.
In a statement, Fahmy said that attacks on Saudi territory—endangering civilian lives—and attacks within Yemen represent a “highly dangerous path” that threatens regional security and stability, while undermining prospects for de-escalation and political settlement.
The Arab League expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of any aggression against its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The organization also called for an end to Houthi attacks and the ongoing tensions in Yemen.
The Arab League Secretary-General emphasized the need to halt tensions in the current situation and refrain from any actions that could escalate the conflict, while also stressing the importance of returning to a path toward a political solution.
