Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be making his scheduled trip to the United States next week. His office announced that the decision was made following the postponement of a memorial service for US Senator Lindsey Graham.

However, Netanyahu’s office has not announced any new potential dates for the US visit.

According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu was scheduled to travel to the US this coming Saturday. He was expected to stay there until Tuesday to attend Senator Lindsey Graham’s memorial service.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham—a staunch supporter of Israel, an unconditional backer of the Netanyahu government’s brutal actions in Gaza, and a fierce critic of Iran—passed away last week following a sudden, brief illness.

The late Republican politician frequently took a strong public stance, calling for increased US military aid to Israel.

In 2021, following Israel’s attacks on Gaza that killed hundreds of Palestinians, Graham visited Israel and was photographed standing beside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next to a sign reading “More for Israel.”

Subsequently, this pro-Israel US senator secured an additional $1 billion in US military aid for the country.

Expressing his condolences over Graham’s death, Netanyahu described him as a close friend. He noted that the Republican lawmaker often strove to secure even more US support for Israel than his government had requested or required.
