Iran has officially withdrawn from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the United States. Tehran has accused the US of repeatedly violating the agreement. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran is no longer bound to adhere to any part of the agreement reached with the US last month to halt hostilities.

Iran asserts that the US has not only violated the agreement but completely shattered it through actions such as imposing a new naval blockade on Iranian ports. Simultaneously, Iran has announced its intention to take full control of the Strait of Hormuz in the event of war.

This announcement comes as the US reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports early Wednesday morning. Washington claims this measure was taken in response to Iranian attacks on ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz. Following this, fresh attacks were launched against locations hosting US troops, casting further uncertainty over the interim agreement aimed at halting the conflict.

“Iran will establish full sovereign control over the Strait of Hormuz, regardless of the cost,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, as reported by the Tasnim News Agency.

He explained that under normal circumstances, control of the Strait of Hormuz is shared between Iran and Oman; however, in the interest of national security during wartime, it is necessary for Iran to hold full control over the entire strait. Gharibabadi added, “Iran will never appeal to the US for negotiations.”
