US President Donald Trump held a two-hour meeting in the Situation Room to deliberate on a potential agreement with Iran. However, multiple international media outlets have confirmed that no final decision regarding the deal was reached.

Commenting on the matter on Friday, a White House official told Al Arabiya that Trump would agree only to a deal that safeguards US interests and meets his declared “red lines”—or strict conditions.

The official stated that the meeting in the Situation Room concerning Iran has concluded. The session lasted approximately two hours. Furthermore, the official asserted that under no circumstances would Iran be permitted to acquire nuclear weapons.

Earlier, Trump himself had indicated that he would convene a meeting in the Situation Room to make a “final decision” regarding a potential Iran deal. However, following the meeting, the Trump administration confirmed that no formal approval for the agreement has yet been granted, and discussions remain ongoing.

Conversely, Iranian officials have asserted that no final understanding has been reached thus far, and that they do not agree with certain conditions put forward by Washington.

Consequently, a significant gap remains between the positions of the two sides regarding the potential agreement.
