Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again highlighted the deep relationship between India and Israel. Speaking at an event on Friday, he stated that Israel is receiving “incredible love” from India at a time when a significant portion of the world is attempting to delegitimize the Jewish state.
Netanyahu remarked, “We share a unique relationship with a massive power known as India. There is immense support for Israel within India.”
He further added, “In many parts of the world, we face attempts to strip us of our legitimacy—but not in India. There, there is truly extraordinary affection for Israel.”
Netanyahu also claimed that he has the largest number of social media followers coming from India.
Earlier, in February, the close ties between the two nations were also brought to the fore during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel.
During that visit, recounting a personal anecdote, Netanyahu revealed that his “first or second date” with his wife, Sara, took place at an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv.
At that time, Modi was conferred with the “Speaker of the Knesset Medal”—the highest parliamentary honor—by the Israeli parliament. Observers believe that the recent remarks by the two leaders, coupled with their previous meetings, signal a further deepening of diplomatic relations between India and Israel.
