British pop star Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against the electronics giant Samsung, alleging that the company used her image on television packaging without her permission. Filed on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the lawsuit alleges that Samsung used images of Dua Lipa’s face on the boxes of various television models sold across the United States without authorization. The BBC Online reported this news.

The lawsuit states that Samsung’s packaging was designed “for the purpose of promoting and selling their products by unfairly capitalizing on Dua Lipa’s hard-earned success.” The suit brings charges of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and the misappropriation of Dua Lipa’s likeness and identity. According to court documents, the image used by Samsung was taken during Dua Lipa’s performance at the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival, and the copyright for that image is held by her. The lawsuit further alleges that she first became aware in June 2025 that her image was being used on Samsung TV boxes. Fans also began posting about the matter on social media, with some even referring to it as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.”

The court documents also cite two comments made on Instagram. One user wrote, “I’m going to buy that TV just because Dua is on it.” Another wrote, “If you want to sell something, just put a picture of Dua Lipa on it.” Lawyers for the 30-year-old singer claim that Samsung ignored repeated requests to cease the infringement of Dua Lipa’s rights. Dua Lipa holds various commercial partnerships; she has worked with brands such as Puma, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent. Additionally, she has collaborated with Apple, Porsche, and Chanel. She recently became a global brand ambassador for Nespresso. Her latest album, Radical Optimism, was released in 2024.
